Trending Bytes February Edition, Heidi

 Happy Spring, Everyone!

Welcome back to the next installment of Trending Bytes. I hope you are enjoying the peek into Crystal and I’s lives. Alright, enough chit chat… Let’s get to the good stuff.

Ikea Brada Laptop Support

Ikea Brada Laptop

During a recent trip to Ikea, my husband picked up this laptop stand. After using it for a while he suggested I try it out and IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST USE! One of the reason I fell in love is that I have a really bad habit… I tend to sit on the couch and use my laptop. This is not good because it is very easy to have bad posture, which can lead to issues with the wrists, back, neck, etc. I should know better and yet here I am typing away on the couch RIGHT NOW. However, when I use this laptop stand, my posture is much better. Wrists do not ache and I sit up straighter. So basically this thing is saving me.

Dry Brushes

Dry Brushes

For the last year or so I have been hearing about dry brushing and it intrigued me. I did not really have any reason to try it until I had some ongoing issues with leg cramps. When all the usual remedies did not make a difference I decide to do some research and came across some information about how blockages in your lymph nodes (like the ones by your knees) and poor circulation can increase leg cramps. Anyone who has had sat with their legs in one position for an extended amount of time can see the correlation. A surprising way to improve both of these conditions is dry brushing.

The theory is that dry brushing stimulates, exfoliate, and detoxes the skin and tissue underneath. It is also thought to help decrease cellulite, varicose veins, and help skin feels softer.

I am going to be real with you, there is no scientific evidence to back up any of these claims. And depending on what blogs you read there are varying degrees to which dry brushing is effective.

I considered all of this and decide to give it a try. And I kind of love it. I do feel like my skin is softer, my feet feel less cold (often a byproduct of poor circulation), and I have noticed that leg cramps have decreased. Could these all be completely unrelated to dry brushing? Of course. But I also know, that sometimes there are things we cannot explain that make all the difference in our health.

Living Forward

Living Forward

If you follow me on social media, you may have noticed my current obsession is the book Living Forward by Michael Hyatt & Daniel Harkavy. Here is why I am all about it:

Quick, Easy, and Real. These guys keep it simple using examples from their own lives to illustrate their points. It is tangible and anyone, at any point, in their life can use the tools they are offering up.

As I mentioned, last month in my Trending Bytes blog I made a declaration that I was going to take my life to the next level in 2016. This has had some serious growing pains as I have more opportunities than ever before, time seems to be my number one enemy, and I am determined to live a life that is not a series of events and to do lists that are more about ticking them off than living.

Reading Living Forward has shown me that it is possible to have a great life, feel accomplished, and not live completely out of balance (see the excerpt below).

If you can relate, I suggest you check out their book, do the work, and let me know how your life has changed.
