Trending Bytes, September Edition – Heidi

Today’s Trending Bytes is going to be short and sweet for me, mostly due to some seasonal allergies. Not sure about the rest of the country, but California has high pollen counts, which is affecting people who (like me) are often not bothered by a little pollen. So before I need to blow my nose again, let’s get to the good stuff!

Traditional Medicinal’s Nettle Tea

This tea has been a life saver while recovering for seasonal allergies because it contains anti-inflammatory properties that help ease the symptoms of allergies such as a runny nose, sneezing, etc. One theory is that the plant Stinging Nettle contains histamine, which helps lower histamine. Not exactly sure this works, but it does! Well at least me, which is a great alternative since I do not take allergy pills.

Note: Traditional Medicinal teas are one of my favorite brands, the make several varieties, and is widely available in most grocery stores and online.

I was recently introduced to these fabulous peanuts when my dad sent them to me in a birthday care package. Why do I love these peanuts? Well, not only are Non-GMO and grown in the United States, but they come in a lightly salted variety. I love a bit of salt but often am overwhelmed by the amount of salt used in other brands. Peanuts are packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, and great for a mid-day snack.

Note: I have CB’s Nuts Products in select stores. On their website, they list retailers they work with. Also, available online.

I received a sample of this product at a conference I attended. I was not sure how to add it to meals or snacks. Then when I was looking for a way to add more protein to my breakfast, which is a grain free homemade chia cereal that with whole milk yogurt, berries, and a bit of nut butter, I decided to try adding some collagen. It is unflavored and does not change the texture and is packed full of protein (18 grams per serving). I noticed I stay fuller longer. Plus, I am a huge fan of the quality (grass-fed) and Vital Proteins seems to be a company that is all about creating great products that nourish the body.

There you have it, my favorite products that are helping me live my healthiest, happiest life.

What are you loving right now? Have you tried these products? Verdict?

Protein & Tea,
