It’s December and the holidays are in full swing! Heidi’s blog from this week inspired my picks for my trending bytes this month with all of the stresses that the holidays bring! Here are the things I have been using to keep my spirits up and enjoy this month. 🙂
I have a beautiful recipe book that I add my favorite recipes too with photos and tips I’ve learned while making certain dishes but sometimes during the holidays it can get little chaotic making multiple dishes at once and trying to flip back and forth through the pages and not spill things or god forbid, I forget my list while shopping at the grocery store and then I have no idea what I need! Well, in comes the recipe keeping Pepperplate app to the rescue! I looked at around at different apps before I chose one reading reviews. I wanted one that I could update on the computer if I found a good recipe and could also update and view on my Ipad and phone. This app is wonderful, it keeps all of your devices synched so if you delete or add a recipe, it changes on all of them. This is has been such a stress reliever with holiday cooking! It’s also great for those recipes I come across sometimes that I want to try but I am not sure they will make it into my cookbook yet! It has a meal planning feature I haven’t even tried yet and a place to make shopping lists, it’s a must try and free to download!
There are so many amazing moments during the holidays at family gatherings and I love it when I manage to capture a couple of them with my camera. I love this camera because it has silent autofocus features for photos and video to allow me to enjoy the moments without worrying about getting it in focus. This is especially handy with little ones who never seem to stay still. I do have a little bit of advice though, when you are you trying to capture those moments, do your best not to stress if you miss them, focus on the little moments instead of that “perfect” holiday photo. A wonderful memory of enjoying myself is better than any photo I’ve ever taken.
Heidi’s cranberry love inspired me to share my love of pomegranates! I have been eating sooo many lately! I have been picking them up at Costco with 8 at a time! I thought I would struggle through the first one but I have picked up several boxes since! They can be a pain to peel but I find patience is best, I usually put on something good to watch and relax a little and take my time. It’s actually a nice stress releiver. Don’t forget to have plenty of napkins on hand as they can get everywhere! Once, you’ve got them open they are loaded with fiber! According to Authority Nutrition, one cup of airls contains:
- Fiber: 7 grams.
- Protein: 3 grams.
- Vitamin C: 30% of the RDA.
- Vitamin K: 36% of the RDA.
- Folate: 16% of the RDA.
- Potassium: 12% of the RDA.
